Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Mt. Tabor is involvement in ministry. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation.
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Mt. Tabor holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons. On Wednesday evenings at 6:45 PM, children are involved in our school year Bible program called Master Clubs. Volunteer workers help to ensure students are learning God’s Word in a fun environment.
Mt. Tabor is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We currently support 48 missionary families all over the world. Almost every member contributes to this through Faith Promise giving, above and beyond their tithe. If you want to get more involve, each month, a group of members meet together to discuss how we can fulfill our mission of world evangelism. Anyone can join the missions committee as long as they attend the meetings and agree to correspond regularly with a designated group of missionaries.
Ushers and Greeters
The ushers at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church fill an important role. They are involved in taking up the offering, directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, helping visitors, answering questions, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The ushers are a servant-hearted group whose ministry is integral to church life. The greeters are also important as they make our guests feel welcome and provide them with a small gift from our church.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Mt. Tabor. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for Christ’s kingdom. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication. We have volunteers to assist in sound quality, power point presentations, and recording.
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Mt. Tabor is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday morning at 9:00 AM, a group of volunteer men pray for for the ministry of the Word. Each Wednesday evening, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study at 7:00 PM.
Volunteers are needed to help with our teen outreach and teaching ministry. We plan monthly activities for the teens and go to various retreats as well as summer youth camp. If you enjoy working with teens, there is a place for you to serve.
We are always looking to start more adult Sunday School classes, so there is a need for teachers, for people to coordinate fellowships in their classes, and for outreach leaders. We also need people to volunteer to teach children’s Sunday School classes on a rotational basis.
